The Evolution Survey Print E-mail
Who Says Printing is Dead

The Evolution survey examined the applications that print service providers (PSPs) produce as part of their wideformat printing operations. The results indicate that these are mainstream wideformat printing companies whose business is based on the leading wideformat digital printing applications such as banners, posters and signage.

The Evolution study is somewhat different from past InfoTrends/FESPA research projects in that the primary focus of the work is not on printing. The primary objective of the Evolution study is to try to take a measure of the “evolutionary” strategies that wideformat print service providers are developing and implementing to position themselves, both in general and also specifically in response to the economic downturn.

The Evolution study is two-tiered. There is a data set from an international electronic survey conducted in the first quarter of 2011 and a series of case studies that present examples of companies that are implementing these evolutionary strategies.
