Screen Printing e-learning Course ideal for GSM Graphic Arts Print E-mail

Peter Kiddell with Marc Allen and Scott Longstaff of GSM Graphic ArtsRudy Pearce, General Manager of GSM Graphic Arts in Thirsk has recognised the importance of internet based learning to provide vital understanding of the screen printing process for his Print Technicians Marc Allen, 20 and Scott Longstaff, 26.

At the presentation of certificates ceremony carried out by Peter Kiddell President of prism (and Partner in PDS Consulting - authors of the course), Marc and Scott explained how interesting and useful the course had been. It gave them a complete understanding of the operation of the screen printing process. They said that the knowledge learnt could be applied to their every day work.

Rudy stated the effect on staff morale was tremendous, it made them much more confident and they did not stop smiling for week when they realised how well they had done in the final exam. Both easily exceeded the challenging 85% pass mark.

Rudy felt that training was such a positive factor in his organisation. In an area where it is difficult to recruit, initiatives such as the e-learning combined with a substantive internal training program is a policy that attracts and retains an excellent workforce. All recruits to the department will work through the e-learning program.

Rudy said £60.00 for a full course was excellent value. Marc and Scott really enjoyed the challenge. They worked on the course during designated time at work and from their home computers. Scott particularly liked the flexibility it gave him he could login whenever it was convenient and pick up exactly where he left off. He was pleased how it helped develop his IT skills. Marc felt it cemented the knowledge he gained working on the job. He involved his work colleagues in some of the questioning and before he knew it the boss was taking a peek at the course to check some facts.

One thing was clear to Marc and Scott the e-learning course was no pushover, it required a commitment in time and effort but because it was so user friendly learning was a pleasure.

Peter Kiddell President of prism was delighted by the reaction of Marc, Scott and Rudy. It is easy to forget what pleasure individuals get in learning and succeeding with exams. Times like these make all the effort we put into promoting and encouraging learning worth every second spent. Well done.

prism the Association for Print Specialists and Manufacturers sees the e-learning program as a means of delivering best practice to the industry by the most efficient and cost effective route. They will continue to support and develop this and other initiatives for the benefit of the UK industry.

The e-learning program is accredited by prism and FESPA as the gold standard in internet based learning for screen printing. The course has been translated into nine European languages along with Thai and Mandarin Chinese. It can be accessed through www.worldofprint.co.uk or www.prismuk.org
