Lysis Technologies Ltd was set up as a Research and Development laboratory to provide unique capabilities, which goes far beyond conventional printing ink and coating concepts. We design and manufacture bespoke solutions to comply with customer’s specifications. These solutions are either just ink related or complete state-of-the packaging concepts for e.g. the FMCG industry. Upon completion of the project clients asked us to manufacture the products of our research or to provide formulation guidelines for their partners. This led to the installation of a fully equipped manufacturing unit in which inks could be prepared from the basic ingredients of pigments, resins, solvents and additives.

We prepare all our own ink varnishes and all our own pigment dispersions giving us complete control over formulation and manufacture. By continually investing in the business we now have a suite of laboratories in which we can analyse, formulate and test inks for any of the printing processes. Our knowledge of substrates, our range of installed laboratory and commercial printing presses together with most types of drying apparatus allows us to formulate ‘working’ inks. The company has developed into an essentially ‘bespoke’ ink formulator capable of manufacturing the products of its researches.

Over the time we have also responded to the needs of the market and have researched and developed a wide range of inks to meet general rather than specific targets. These inks are available generally and are our first port of call in the servicing of clients problems. Because Screen Printing, Pad Printing and more recently Ink Jet Printing, are printing techniques that can print on almost any complex shaped substrate. Lysis Technologies Ltd have built up a wide spread reputation of formulating inks for these particular processes.

Another service we have been able to offer clients is a pilot plant in which formulations can be tried and tested before committal to large commercial batches. This has been particularly useful to large ink manufacturers and to large printers who wish to manufacture their own inks ‘in house’.

Service and Customer Care are important qualities that characterise our business. Quality control procedures include tests for dispersion, viscosity, colour and printability plus any specific tests required by the specialised nature of the ink. Our experience in the trade covers over 35 years and allows us to take a broad view of customers problems with the result we see the whole picture and the significance of the correct choice of ink.
